The Process
I work primarily with acrylic on canvas or linen depicting loose shapes, organic rounded forms, and an interplay of color to convey various thematic concepts reflecting my inner process of transformation. I have spent the past several years cutting away the blocks that have kept me from the expression of my truth and authenticity. The exploration of spiritual growth, psychological concepts, and inner emotional landscapes are vital to my process.
Before I start working I set an intention, like the word “letting go”, "forgiveness", or "what is present now?", and then work in an intuitive manner, never knowing what I’m going to end up with. It is a beautiful process of exploration and I love working in such a way that allows me to be consistently present in the moment, rather than focused on a predetermined outcome. In this manner the paintings become a meditative process as I work piece by piece, picking colors and brushes as each bit of the painting unfolds. When I feel a sense of completeness I look at the work for underlying themes that point to the unconscious, point to other realms and levels of consciousness, and see what I can learn about myself and others through its reflection. It creates an inner bonding with both the higher spiritual centers of my consciousness, higher inspiration, as well as my inner child, basic self, and body.
